Red noses all round

The team at Braceborough Hall are always willing to get involved for a good cause and Red Nose Day was no exception.

If you were very observant, even the fixtures and fittings got involved

Praise for high standards of care

All retirement homes say that they offer excellent care but our fantastic team at Braceborough Hall really do.

Last week we received a lovely note of appreciation and with kind permission from David we can share it with you:

Thank you to all of the team for the effort they put into making sure we live up to our reputation for offering superior care and thank you David for your thoughtful acknowledgement.

Congratulations Julia

We are delighted to announce that after a lot of hard work on her part, Julia has achieved the qualifications required to become Manager of Braceborough Hall and has been promoted with immediate effect.

Julia has been an essential part of the team at Braceborough for over 25 years and no one is better placed to step up as Sue eases herself into retirement.

We know Julia will maintain the high standards that we are proud of and will ensure that Braceborough Hall remains a retirement home of distinction. We hope you will join us in congratulating her on her new role.

2015 New Year’s Resolutions and a lovely testimonial

We haven’t done very well at keeping the website updated but we are aiming to improve in 2015 and our New Year’s Resolution is to start posting regularly again – we have put it in print now so we will have to keep our word!

Fortunately we can get off to a great start as we were delighted last week to receive a glowing testimonial from Carol East on http://www.carehome.co.uk with regard to the time her mother, Mrs Templeman, spent with us.

In all 12 of the categories Carol rated us Excellent or Good and commented:

The care and respect shown to my mother in the last few weeks of her life were exemplary and this continued in their concern and help for me after her death. I cannot thank the staff enough or recommend them too highly.

We’re nearly ready Father Christmas!

Matron has now ordered the Christmas tree, “just a small 10 footer this year”!

The elves (aka Ian & Peter) will be up a ladder most of week commencing 12th putting the lights, tinsel, baubles and anything else we can think of on it to fill it up.  As always Edna the fairy will be on the top.  Just to clarify she is a proper angel and not one of our residents!

Father Christmas obviously won’t be coming till the early hours of Christmas morning but relatives are welcome to leave their gifts for residents under the tree at any time in the lead up to Christmas.

Benjy goes to school – part one

Hopefully lots of you now have had the pleasure of meeting young Benjy and have seen what a delighful little chap he is.  We are all very fond of him.

Like many young boys, his behaviour is sometimes to be found wanting and so this past weekend Benjy went for his first day at school.  We would love to report that it was a resounding success and that Benjy was the star of the class but alas the truth is he spent most of the session in the naughty corner!  Had there been a dunces cap to hand, he would certainly have been wearing it.

We look forward to hopefully reporting better things in the weeks to come, not least because Mummy and Daddy (Matron and John) don’t want to have to stand in the corner with him again!

The sun did have his hat on

Earlier this week some of the ladies made the most of the unseasonally nice weather and topped up their vitamin D levels on the sun terrace overlooking our beautiful gardens.  And as you can see, to make sure nobody overheated it was ice lollies and choc ices all round!

With the way the weather is fluctuating at the moment keep an eye on the blog, I may be posting pictures of them all having a snowball fight in the next couple of weeks!

Keep up to date with happenings at Braceborough Hall

Welcome all

We have decided that it might be nice to add a news page to the website whereby we can keep you up to date with some of the happenings at Braceborough Hall.  We will let you know about upcoming social and fundraising events, perhaps share some birthdays with you and anything else that takes our fancy.

For those of you who know me (Matron/Sue) I am not the most IT competent person you will meet, so I have roped our daughter Claire into looking after this side of things for me – thanks Claire!

Whether you are a friend or relative of a resident at Braceborough Hall or just someone who would like to get more of a feel for what we are all like, please pop back occasionally and see what we are up to.
